I am Marouane RHAFLI, the C.E.O of Scrowp agency, a reputable Shopify agency, selling all kind of services to help online entrepreneurs thrive in the ecommerce world.

You wonder how I start and how I become what I am now, so let me tell you a bit of my success story !

I did my first sale online on ebay back to 2010 when I was still student in engineering mechanics in Laval university in Canada, it wasn't a real business as I was just selling some stuff I didn't use, and sometimes I used to buy some stuff from here and there and resell them on ebay, soon (probably a year later) I started selling on Amazon, and at that time ebay was more famous than Amazon.

Anyway, while I was still studying I kept selling online on those ecommerce platforms where I gained the top rated seller badge on ebay probably in 2012.

At this period and after doing some market research, I started importing smartphones gadgets from China, I remember the supplier name (dhgate.com), I was selling cases and screen protectors for the Iphone 5,Samsung Galaxy s4, ...

Everything was great till the day Paypal blocked my account because I didn't have a registered business, anyway I continued doing some online sales on ebay amazon.

I finished my studies in 2014 and I went back to my origin country (Morocco), I was stuck because I couldn't do the same business model I was doing in Canada, when I was in Canada, the shipping from China to Canada was Free, but in Morocco the shipping was so costly, and in addition to that, opening a new ebay account and opening a new Paypal account was challenging.

I didn't work as a mechanical engineer as my dream was to be my own boss, be free and have my financial freedom.

By the time goes, I made an online business on Shopify back to 2017 where I was selling original perfumes, my supplier was (fragranceX.com) the business was doing good (not too much money, but it pays my bills).

I had more than 10,000 products on this Shopify store, but I encountered a technical problem, at that time, no Shopify theme had the ability to have a dynamic filter on the collection page so my clients can filter perfumes by brands, fragrances, bottle size, .... this is when I open a fiverr account to look for a Shopify developer to fix this technical problem, but at that time no one was able to code this dynamic filter.

This is when I decided to learn coding and Shopify development, I remember I was learning from the site https://www.w3schools.com/ I started from ZERO, till I was able to learn some basic skills in HTML, CSS, JS and some Shopify coding skills from online forums and from the Shopify support.

At this time, to earn more money, I posted a gig as a Shopify developer on fiverr, I was working with great clients and I shaped my coding skills.

In lately 2017, early 2018, I started getting order to speed up Shopify stores, as at that time all Shopify themes were slow, so I decided to create my own Shopify theme which was the fastest at that time and I as also able to code the dynamic filtering sidebar, and I created my own business in 2019.

The business was doing great till I sold it in 2022, and now I am running Scrowp agency 🙂
