How the video in Scrowp is optimized for speed and SEO ?

In Scrowp theme you can either upload a video in shopify files, or use a Youtube.Videmo video to be displayed in the video section or in the custom section on homepage.

The video is not preloaded and an image poster is used in the video container until a visitor click on Play, this way the browser won’t count the video on initial load and your site will then load faster.

How to upload an internal video and poster

• From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Files
• Then click upload file (the maximum file size allowed by Shopify is 20mb)
• Upload your video
• Copy the video link (it will be used on the video section)

How to insert the video in homepage

• From your Shopify admin, click Online store > Customize
• From the theme editor, scroll down and click Add section
• Click video
• Add the video heading and insert your video link

• Scroll down and chose your poster image

• On the poster image, click Edit to add ALT Text, this will help search engines such as Google recognize the video for better ranking.
• Click Save

When should I preload the video ?

You can preload the video only if you are using an internal video and don’t wish to use a poster image
